This evening’s Erev Shabbat service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus with the assistance of the Adult Choir, will begin at 8:00 pm.  Being Elul, (and September) we will be back in our main Sanctuary, which has undergone a makeover of the Bima.  In addition we will have an official dedication of the new Mishkan T’fillah siddurim the Temple has acquired. Finally, Rabbi Dreyfus will bless those members celebrating their wedding anniversaries in August and September.

Tomorrow morning will include the first Tot Shabbat of the season, beginning at 9:00 am.  In 30 minutes,  young children, their parents, and anyone else interested,  will sing songs, hear a story and pray in celebration of the Shabbat.

Our regular Shabbat morning service, led by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin, in the newly enhanced main sanctuary, at 10:00 am.  Of course, we will be using Mishkan T’fillah. Barry Bayer will be the cantorial soloist.

The Parasha is Shof’tim, Deuteronomy 16:18–21:9.  The reading begins with instructions for selecting judges and how they should judge. (All of our judges, today, ought to read this section regularly.)  We continue with the appointment of Kings, rules of going to war and those about to go to war, and what to do if a slain man is found in a field, that is not a part of any city.

The Haftarah is the Fourth Haftarah of Consolation, Isaiah 51:12 –52:12
