This evening’s Erev Shabbat service will celebrate our Adult music department with music from the Adult Choir and the Klezmedics, our congregational Klezmer band. The service will begin at 8:00 pm, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus.
Tomorrow morning’s Shabbat service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 10:00 am. Nancy Friedman will be the Chazanit. Allex Hartog will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah. Our congratulations to Allex and his family.
The Parsha is B’midbar, Numbers 1:1 - 4:20. The book, more or less about what happens in the desert, opens with…a bunch of Numbers, basically census information about each of the tribes. (The total is 603,550, not including the Levites. That is, if “elef” really means a “thousand”. The section continues with instructions fo dealing withe tabernacle and other structures as the tribes move from place to place, and the duties of the Levites and the Kohatites.
The Haftarah is Samuel 20:18-42.
