Each summer we move out of the sanctuary for a couple of months, to save on air-conditioning costs and to allow our maintenance staff to put the sanctuary in its best shape before the holy days.
We gather each Shabbat evening and morning in the Garfien Wing, the multi-purpose room at the north side of the building. Summer services are a bit more casual , and our tradition has been that Friday evening services are conducted by families or groups of congregants. All of our post bar- and bat-mitzvah students are capable of leading services, and we urge them and their families to volunteer for one Friday evening.
We have an annotated booklet that guides leaders through the service, which you can use to prepare in advance. If you (and your friends or family) would like to lead a service or give a d’var torah (sermonette) over the summer, please contact Carole Fefferman.
The Ritual Committee will also need volunteers to help with Shabbat morning services for those weeks when Rabbi Dreyfus is on vacation or teaching at camp. Summer services begin Friday, June 13, at 8:00 p.m., and will continue through August.S
