If you haven’t attended one of our after-Shabbat-Morning-SAervice-Adult-Education programs, before, this could be a good weekend to do it. After our December 1 service, we’ll have what Rabbi Dreyfus refers to as “high kiddush”….some call it a light lunch…. with fresh bagels (occasionally from the “North Side”), a couple types of cream cheese, sliced onions, tomatoes, sometimes a little lox, cookies, cake, fruit salad, cottage cheese, probably some delicious leftover home made Cummings Challah — leftover from 10 minutes earlier with the regular Kiddush, but deliciously fresh — regular coffee as well as decaf, and an hour’s discussion of the portion of the torah designated for this Shabbat, or anything else that might be of interest.
This weeks’s Parsha, Vayeishev, begins the Joseph story, with a seemingly unrelated interlude that Webber and Rice never wrote about, but really makes a pretty good story — the so-called Harlot by the Side of the Road. All is fair game in our discussions. The torah continues with Joseph in and out of Jail, interpreting Dreams, and everything you do know from Webber and Rice.
If you haven’t been there, previously, give it a try. Come for services at 10, stay for bagels at 11, and an interesting discussion. All are welcome to join in.
