Shabbat Shalom - 25 Elul

This evening’s Erev Shabbat Family Service conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, with assistance by Nancy Friedman and the Youth Choir, will begin at 7:30 PM.

Tomorrow morning’s Shabbat Service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 10:00 AM. Nancy Friedman will be the Cantorial Soloist. Morgan Stahl will be called to the Torah for the first time, as a Bat Mitzvah.

The Prasha is the double portion Nitzavim/Vayeilech , Deuteronomy 29:9–31:30. The section begins with a call for the renewal of the covenant with G-d, the blessings that will accrue if G-d’s commandments are followed and the curses that wil happen if they are not. G-d tells Moses to get ready to die, and to write a song to teach the Israelites to remind them to follow the commandments. Moses charges Joshua bn Nun with charge of the Israelites. And tells him to write the law on a scroll and place it in the arc of the covenant, as it is carried around from place to place. And then Moses assembles everyone, once again, and begins to sing his song.
