The Parsha is Ki Teitzei , Deuteronomy 21:10–25:19. The parsha begins telling the Israelites what to do “When you go forth into battle with your enemies” and G-d delivers them into your hands. It turns out that battle is a good place to pick up women, but you have to treat them right If you want to marry them. There continues a listing of various laws, in no particular order that is easily discerned, but inlcudes how to handle rebellious children, what to do if you execute someone by hanging, Women are prohibited from wearing men’s garments, and men, women’s. You shouldn’t wear mingled linen and wool together. You shouldn’t plow with a team consisting of an ass and an ox. There are severe penatlies for marital infidelities, but you had better do your duty to your dead brother’s widow if he died without a male heir. But if your brother isn’t dead, things could be even worse if the woman is not married or engaged to be married: in that case he has to marry her. And on and on. But one thing overall: blot out the name of Amalek, and don’t forget what he did.
