As we plunge into the last month before the New Year, this evening’s Erev Shabbat Service will be led by Dr. Michael Anger and Carole Fefferman, beginning at 8:00 pm in the Garfein wing.
Tomorrow morning’s Shabbat Service will be led by Rabbi Dreyfus, beginning at 10:00 am in the Garfein Wing. Niki Cummings will be the Cantorial Soloist.
The Parsha is Shof’tim , Deuteronomy 16:18–21:9. Here we go with really good stuff. The appointment of judges and how they should rule on cases. On murder trials, and the evidence required for a conviction. On appointment of Kings, when the people goes into the land. Extradition of alleged murderers. On prohibitions against dealing with magicians and fortune tellers and so forth. If only our leaders would read all of this at least once a year.
The Haftarah is the Fourth Haftarah of Consolation, Isaiah 51:12 = 52:12
