This evening’s Erev Shabbat Service will be conducted by Rich & Carol Zucker and Peter & DeeDee Dubrow. The Zuckers and the Dubrows may joined by the music of Carole Fefferman. Services begin at 8:00 PM in the Garfein Wing.
Tomorrow’s Shabbat Service conducted by Ernie Ratowitz, with Niki Cummings as Cantorial Soloist, will begin at 10:00 am in the Garfein Wing. Ernie will also read Torah, beginning with the first verses of the final book of the Torah.
The Parsha for this Shabbat Chazon, the Shabbat immediately preceeding Tisha B’Av, is D’varim , Deuteronomy 1:1?3:22 . Moses speaks to the assembled Israelites beyond the Jordan in the desert of the Aravah, and gives these folks a little history lesson of the wanderings in 40 year wanderings in the desert.
The Hafarah for this Shabbat before Tisha B’Av is the Third Haftarah of Affliction, Isaiah 1:1–27.
