Tomorrow morning’s Shabbat Service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 10:00 am, also in the Garfein Wing.
The Parsha is Chukat, Numbers 19:1?22:1. This strange section of the Torah is about death. The death of Miriam, the death of Aaron, the uncleanliness of dealing with the dead, the road to purification through the unblemished Red Heifer. And the death of Moses on the wrong side of the Jordan River is foretold, when Moses, in frustration strikes the rock twice, rather than speaking to it as commanded by G-d, to obtain water for his people. The section continues with battles against various tribes and kingdoms as the Israelites proceed on their wanderings, and ends with making camp in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho.
The haftarah is from Judges 11:1 - 11:33
