It is hard to believe that the Sisterhood Closing Event is coming up on May 24. It seems like yesterday that plans were being made for the Opening Event.
It has been a busy time, and a time for learning for us as vice-presidents/presidents. We thank those who have helped out along the way. Our hats off to former leaders who have guided us, and we are looking forward to providing programs and events that everyone will learn from and enjoy. You can help us out by making suggestions about programs and what Sisterhood can do for you.
The Closing Event at Dragon Inn on May 24 not only will give everyone a chance to get together and enjoy good food, but also Marikay Peter Witlock will share her nature-inspired art with us. Click Here for details on what promises to be a highlight of the Sisterhood year.
Looking ahead to next year, there will be a special opportunity for everyone to purchase a very important publication. In December, WRJ’s The Torah: A Women’s Commentary will be published. This multi-volume work is the culmination of a project that incorporated contemporary, Jewish, and women’s perspectives on the Torah. Written exclusively by women, the commentary focuses on matters that concern women, but also addresses issues important to Jews as a whole, and uses critical approaches not found in traditional commentaries. The publication price will be $75, but it will be available for much less than that to us since we have pre-ordered with other sisterhoods on a volume basis. The commentary promises to be an important resource for the temple and our personal libraries. You may remember the Torah study earlier that gave a preview of the commentary.
In the next bulletin, watch for dates and events and other important items for next year. We hope to see more of you involved with Sisterhood. In the meantime, come to the Closing Event and bring friends
Penny, Judy and Ruth
