This evening’s Erev Shabbat Service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 8:00 pm. Nancy Friedman will be the Cantorial Soloist, and congregents whose Wedding Anniversaries occurred or will occu in the month of April will be blessed from the Pulpit.

The parasha will be the double portion Tazria/M’tzora, Leviticus 12:1?15:33. If a woman bears a son, she is unclean for seven days, then comes the Brit and she continues with blood purification for thirty three days. If she bears a daughter, however, the initial unclean period is two weeks, and the blood purification sixty six days. In either case, after the designated period, the mother is to bring a burnt offering and a sin offering to the priest, and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean. Unless, of course, there is leprosy— or is it psoriasis — about, and the rest of the reading continues on about ways of dealing with that.
