This evening’s Community Erev Shabbat Service will take place at Temple Anshe Sholom, Olympia Fields, beginning at 7:30 pm. There will be NO SERVICES at the BYBS building in Homewood.

Tomorrow’s Shabbat Service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 10:00 am. Larry Burrows will be the Cantorial Soloist.
After services, we’ll continue with a discussion of our Torah and Haftarah readings as well as a little lunch, with our Bible & Bagels series.

The Parsha is Shimini, Leviticus 8:1 - 11:47. We begin with more offerings of various sorts until two of Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, get something wrong with strange fire that they weren’t commanded to do, and the fire went out and they died. Aaron and Moses mourn the deaths, but silently, and don’t complain about G-d’s judgments in the matter. We continue on with rules on the type of creatures that are clean and may be eaten and are unclean, and not be eaten. In other words….”kosher” or “treif”.

We’ll discuss these and other exciting topics with Bible & Bagels after services.
