This evening’s Erev Shabbat Service of this Shabbat before Purim, Shabbat Zachor, will be conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, beginning at 8:00 PM. Nancy Friedman will be the Cantorial Soloist.
Tomorrow Morning’s Shabbast Service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, will begin at 10:00 AM. Carole Fefferman will be the Cantorial Soloist.
The Parsha will be T’zaveh. Exodus 27:20 - 30:10. This section begins with instructions to keep the oil always available for an ever burning light in the Tabernacle, ends with instructions for Aaron’s annual atonement, and includes instructions for what priests should wear and the ritual for becoming a priest in the middle.
The special Maftir for Shabbat Zachor is Deuteronomy 25:17 - 19, where we are given the rather confusing instructed to “Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;. . .blot out the memory of Amalek . . .and don’t forget him.”
