This evening’s Erev Shabbat Service for Sisterhood Sabbath will be conducted by the members of the Sisterhood, beginning at 8:00 PM. Music will be provided by the Adult Choir.

Tomorrow morning’s service for Shabbat and Rosh Chodesh will begin at 10:00 AM and will be conducted by Michael Miller. Jerry Levine will be the cantorial soloist.

The parasha is Va’eira, Exodus 6:2 - 9:35, and the Rosh Chodesh Maftir, Numbers 28:9 - 15. G-d identifies himself to the children of Israel then tells Moses to have another chat with Pharoah and demand that Phraroah let the Children of Israel leave. G-d tells Moses and Aaron that he will harden Pharoah’s heart, and do the signs and wonders thing so that even the Egyptians will know of G-d’s power.
Moses and Aaron, on the one hand, and Pharoah’s wise men and magicians on the other, trade tricks, including turning staves into snakes anad back, and Pharoah refuses to let the Children of Israel Go. Whereupon, on G-d’s instruction, Moses and Aaron began with the plagues. You remember: dahm, tsfardaya, kinim…. turning all the nationa’s rivers into blood, bringing frogs, lice, flies, death of cattle and hail into Egypt, one at a time.
And still Pharoah wouldn’t let them leave Egypt.

After services we’ll adjourn for Kiddush then a light repaste and discussion for our usually monthly Bible and Bagels session. Be prepared for an interesting discussion.
