Last Shabbat in the month of October - early services at 6:15 PM. Not only early, but Simchat Shabbat (formerly known as camp Shabbat.) Informal, guitar(s) leading congregational singing with the songs sometimes learned at camp, one hour more or less. And often (and this time) a pot luck dinner afterwards. Altogether, a nice way of welcoming the Shabbat Queen.
Tomorrow’s Shabbat Morning sevice will be conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus and will begin at 10:00 AM. Nicky Cummings will be the cantorial soloist.
The Parasha is Noach , Genesis 6:9 ? 11:32. Another very busy section with familiar stories…..corruption leading to the flood, for all except Noah and his family. The Tower of Babel leading to the creation of lots of different languages, lots of generatsions from spring from Noah, until we get to Terah and his sons, including Abram, who married Sarai, but she was barren.
