A busy weekend.’
First, a congregational dinner at 6:30 PM. If you have yet to make reservations, alas, it is probably too late.
Next, in a family service beginning at 7:30 PM conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus, we’ll celebrate Shimini Atzeret, march around the sanctuary seven times to celebrate Simchat Torah, and, oh yes, celebrate Shabbat. Nancy Friedman and the Youth Choir will provide our music. In addition to everything else, Rabbi Dreyfus will bless children born in October, and children new to our schools will be consecrated.
As part of the Simchat Torah celebration, our honorees, selected to bless the reading of the final portion of the Torah and immediately thereafter the first reading of the Torah, will be Kallat Torah Ruth Friedman and Hatan Bereishit Larry Burrows. Congratulations to both.
Finally, Saturday morning at 10:00 AM we will have a joint Shabbat - Shimini Atzeret (including Yizkor prayers) and Simchat Torah service together with Temple Anshe Sholom, at their building on Western Avenue in Olympia Fields. The BYBS Klezmedics klezmer band will play, and a Kiddush Lunch will follow the services.
THERE WILL BE NO MORNING SERVICES held at BYBS. We’ll be back for services next week, at 10:00 AM as usual.
