Tomorrow’s Shabbat Morning service will begin at 10:00 AM in the Garfein Wing and will be conducted by Rabbi Leo Wolkow. Carole Fefferman will be the cantorfial soloist.
The parasha is the double portion Matot/Mas’ei, Numbers 30:2–36:13, which concludes the Book of Numbers. There is much discussion of various types of vows and who is responsible for them. Under G-d’s direction, the children of Israel mop up the Midianites, killing the men, but saving the Women, at least the virgins. Aaron dies and various clans are assigned land, and the Jews settle in on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.
