Erev Shabbat Services this evening, conducted by Michael Miller, will be held in the Garfein Wing and will begin at 8:00 PM

Tomorrow Morning’s Shabbat Service will be conducted by Rabbi Dreyfus. Nicki Cummings and Carol Fefferman will collaborate as dual cantorial soloists. (or should that be Cantorial Dualists?) Services will be held in the Garfein wing and begin at 10:00 AM

The Week’s Parasha will be Pinchas, Numbers 25:10–30:1. First, Pinchas is rewarded for being zealous on behalf of G-d (by executing the sinning man and woman now identified as Zimri, the son of Salu and Cozbi, the daughter of Zur). After the plague stopped, it was time to identify the men over twenty years old who were prepared to fight for the Israelites, in the plains of Moab near Jericho, and the lineage of many of the group. But there have been big changes during the 40 years, for”…among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.” Finally, the reading ends with instructions of celebration of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and the Succot and accompanying festivals, although not using those names.
