Long Holiday weekend, but Shabbat Services continue on. If you’re around, come on in. You’ll enjoy them may be needed.

Last erev Shabbat Service in the month, which means it begins at 6:15 PM. First of our summer services in the Garfein wing. Park in the back; the door will be open. We still need volunteers to conduct the summer services. Pick a Friday and call Carole Fefferman to volunteer.
Tomorrow’s Shabbat morning service will continue our Garfein wing summer series.

The parasha is Chukat, Numers 19:1, a very busy one. This exciting tale of the Red Heiffer, and death, and death, and purification. Miriam dies. Then on to Meribeh, where, when there is no water, Moses and Aaron are instructed to speak to the rock. Under pressure from the community, Moses commits the big error and strikes the rock, and G-d tells them that neither he nor Aaron will make it into the promised land. Aaron dies.

In the meantime, the tribes are having difficulty finding a way through the lands. Edom says no. Others say no. Finally, Og of Bashan says no, but get punished big time, as his entire people are destroyed.
