On Saturday, June 24, our BYBS sisterhood will host an “Area Day” for members of temple sisterhoods from the south suburbs of Chicago and northwest Indiana. The program begins at 9 AM with Shabbat Morning services at 9:15 AM. THe program will continue with a workshop to share ideas and learn about getting members involved in worthwhile
Sisterhood/Temple projects. Attendees will be served continental breakfast and lunch with the
discussion and program

Join us for this exciting program and develop the tools to view things in ways you hadn’t thought of! You will never again hear your Sisterhood say, “But we’ve always done things that way.”Learn how to think “outside the box“ and have fun while doing it!
The keynote speaker will be Faith Avner, who has served the Jewish community in many professional and volunteer leadership roles.
Faith she has been the administrator of Am Shalom in Glencoe, where she earned her FTA, and for more than 20 years of professional association at BJBE in Glenview, she has been the Family Educator, Youth Director, Hebrew Teacher, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Coordinator and Educational Program Director.
She is currently the Jewish Programming Director at the Buffalo Grove JCC.
Faith’s volunteer work includes service to the URJ Department of Synagogue Management, where she traveled nationally to our reform synagogues and led their boards of directors through leadership development and training workshops.
Faith also served on her congregation’s board of directors for 18 years. In the summer of 2003, she expanded her volunteer work internationally as she chaperoned a youth delegation from Congregation BJBE to the Check Republic, where they cleaned the cemeteries and visited the synagogues in the town of Kolin, the original home of their holocaust Torah. That same year, she also, with her son, visited her school in Uganda to deliver school supplies, and meet with and
teach the youth and adults of the community during the week they were there.
Faith is currently the Director of the Family Resource and Learning Center for Chicago Jewish Funerals, where she assists families of all ages in funeral arrangements and educational materials. In her spare time, she tutors B’nai Mitzvah students, an experience she has enjoyed for over 35 years.
Faith has been married more than 25 years to Miles, her “youth group sweetheart”, and is the proud mom of Beth (22) and Brian (19). Also a member of the family is Goofy, their chocolate Lab.
