Tomorrow’s Morning Shabbat service, conducted by Rabbi Dreyfuss, begins at 10:00 AM
In addition to usual Shabbat morning doings, we’ll have an aufruff in honor of the imminent nuptuals of Adam Wallace and Lina Dreyfus. A luncheon follows the service, but check with the Temple Ofice for reservations.
This weeks Parasha is Shlach, Numbers 13:1 - 15:41. Moses appoints a group of 12 to investigate the land of Canaan, where G-d proposes the Jewish people will go. 10 notes that the land is inhabited by giants, and moving in will be nigh impossible. Joshua and Caleb have another view, and find it to be a land flowing with milk and honey. Subsequently, there are more murmerings against G-d, Moses and the other leaders, Things did not go well for the Murmers. Nor for a man who was found gathering sticks on the Shabbat, who, upon the orders of G-d, was stoned to death. The children of Israel are then commanded to put fringes on their clothing to better remember the commandments.
