Special Adult Education Program at BYBS

Carol V. Davis is a professor and a poet. Her poems have appeared in Commentary, Midstream, Tikkun and Lilith, among others and in anthologies, including Nice Jewish Girls and Lifecycles: Jewish Women on Life Passages and Personal Milestones. Her first book was Letters From Prague, (1991).

Professor Davis spent 1996-97 as a senior Fulbright scholar teaching modern Jewish literature at Petersburg Jewish University, Russia. It’s Time to Talk About…, was published in Russia (1997), in a bilingual edition. The Violin Teacher, was published in Nov. 2005 in Chicago. She spent fall 2005 as a senior Fulbright scholar teaching contemporary American literature at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. She is an adjunct professor of English at Santa Monica College, CA.

Professor Davis will speak on “An American Jew Looks at Russia from the Inside.” She is uniquely qualified, having spent extensive time in Russia, sometimes for as long as a year.

There is no charge for this program and all are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
